Dan Marino's Bio

Dan Marino is one of five owner-partners of Hickey Lawyers. The bright young lawyer joined the firm over a decade ago as an articled clerk and has worked his way up the ranks, being appointed partner in 2007.

He also undertook a two and a half year stint with one of the United Kingdom’s most prestigious firms – Field, Fisher, Waterhouse – considered among the country’s leaders in the hotel and leisure sector, and is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.

Mr Marino took up his equity partnership on April 1 2010, joining Hickey Lawyers owner-partners Tony Hickey, Mark Lacy, Joe Welch and Simon Chan.

Dan specializes in large, mixed-use property development projects, and advises on all aspects of development including residential and industrial land subdivisions. His specific areas of expertise include negotiation of complex development agreements, construction contracts and funding facilities.

He is also a leader in business and tourism law, focusing on business management and structuring, acquisitions, and transactions in acquisition and disposal of mid – large pubs and restaurants.

“Dan hosts several corporate charitable events raising significant donations for many local charities and has been instrumental in raising over $250 000 over the past three years alone.

He is the founder and driving force behind the bi-annual Gold Coast Lads’ Lunch, which over the years has raised thousands of dollars for local charities, is on the board of directors of the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation and is an active participant in local voluntary liquor accords throughout the state.

Along with his extensive industry experience, Mr Marino has completed a Masters of Law specialising in commercial and corporate law, a Bachelor of Law/Bachelor of Business (majoring in Accountancy) and a post graduate diploma in legal practice in New South Wales, allowing him to practice cross border.
