The Gold Coast’s leading commercial law firm has introduced a new leasing system, which is set to make buying, selling and maintaining commercial property simpler.

Hickey Lawyers has established an on-line database, allowing landlords to better keep track of their commercial property and for leasing documents to be quickly produced.

Gayna Marlow, head of the firm’s leasing department, said the system had been used effectively in Brisbane, but it was believed to be a first for the Gold Coast.

“The Gold Coast’s commercial property market has continued to thrive, with an increasing number of office buildings, shopping centres and mixed-use developments constructed, which has created the need for this system,” she said.

“Through the on-line database, landlords will have access to a wealth of up-to-date information, such as the progress of the lease, whether cooling off periods have expired, if documents have been signed or how much bond has been held.

“The system can also be utilised throughout the due diligence process, saving cost and time by giving potential buyers access to all the information they need.”

Hickey Lawyers owner-partner Joe Welch said as one of the fastest growing regional centres in Australia, the Gold Coast continued to mature into a major commercial hub.

“Major property and commercial transactions are happening in the region everyday, with national and international companies realising the potential that exists in this area,” he said.
