Indigenous Education & Engagement

Saturday, 1 August 2015

Tony Hickey has expressed a keen interest to contribute to Indigenous Education and Engagement.

Through an association with Bond University, Tony Hickey and Hickey Lawyers have contributed financially to the University’s Indigenous Education and Engagement programs.

The University has a program, known as ‘Vice Chancellor’s Mentoring Program’, to enhance the student experience by focusing the student’s attention on career preparation.

In 2014, Tony accepted the honour of being invited to be an inaugural mentor in this program; particularly as the program provided the opportunity for Tony to mentor an indigenous student.

Tony regards the mentoring as an opportunity to assist the student in business and career planning and provide introductions to corporate and industry networks.  Importantly, Tony values the opportunity for the student to engage with him and his family.

Tony says; “The opportunity to contribute to our Indigenous family and in particular to engage with Indigenous members of the community, as presented by Bond, was an exciting invitation that was too good to refuse. No greater satisfaction can be achieved than to witness young Indigenous members of the community eagerly grasping the opportunity of a wonderful education at Bond University”.
