Damien Hodgson is a Special Counsel at Hickey Lawyers within its Planning Law and Litigation Divisions.

Damien specialises in planning law and has extensive experience in all aspects of the development and legislative approval process, including appeals and other proceedings before the Planning and Environment Court and the Court of Appeal. 

He advises property development clients on complex planning issues and dealing with local and state authorities on all related regulatory matters.

Damien also has substantive experience in property and commercial contract dispute resolution, construction law and insolvency.

Damien is recognized as a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Commercial Litigation.

Hungtat Worldwide Pty Ltd v Chief Executive of the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (2017) QPEC 62 – in which the Court accepted that a clean-up notice issued by the Department to our client, regarding an incident that was the result of a natural process and was not caused or permitted by our client, should not have been issued.
